Politics

Sorry. As I think through this politics thing I realize that I don't really know enough to talk about it. And I don't really care enough to make very many comments. Last time I heard of someone who had the power to change things, and actually did what his publicity people* said he was going to do, he didn't run for office. He got right in there with the sick and the poor and the helpless (and I'm sure the expecting mothers) and loved them in a way I can't understand. He took care of it himself. When those people were sick it was probably a waste of their time to go to the government, so they went to him. Why don't they come to him/us now?** Maybe the church should be opening our arms and pocket books and taking care of the poor, and sick, and mothers who don't know what to do. Our church has a church nurse, and I have no idea what she does, I actually wasn't sure if she was necessary when I heard about it. Probably more biblical than a church decorating committee. Really what are we here for? And why do we expect the government to legislate everyone into doing the right thing (stop abortion) and to stop doing the wrong thing (neglecting sick poor people). The most amazing thing in history happened when the current government was really really messed up, and the religious leaders were having a tough time too. So why am I so worried that God is going to stop working if things get politically bad...go ahead and vote or don't vote for who ever your heart says you should. And then let them not do all the things they said they would do. And then go and see Jesus do all the things He said He would do...through us.

*the prophets
**maybe Satan is the one who pushed in the Canadian health care system. So sick people would stop coming to the Church, and the Church would stop needing to care about sick people. Because we really don't give a rip, just give them a buck for bus fare to the hospital. (just a wacky statement...I make no claims of knowing Satan's agendas)

edit
too much? blogs are for rambling right? I'm really not yelling this....just chatting...open for rebuke. Aware of my ignorance.

Question.

So I may be overlooked here for two reasons. 1. I never update on Xanga.  2.  I don't really know much of anything about the US political thing.

But I still have a question.  Pretty much forever God has spoken out against societies that sacrifice their children.  I am pretty sure He simply wiped some of them out (which sounds like everything else they were doing quit prospering....economics, international policy, social services, etc).  So how can Christians in good conscience put their hand to the ballot and vote for a president who publicly promotes abortion?

Mostly I feel that my use of Xanga and my knowledge of the US political situation are irrelevant to the asking of this question.  I am just an ignorant guy who doesn't know why.

I'm gonna be someones old man.

At the moment my son/daughter looks a lot like a bean...a look which he/she definitely gets from Missy's side of the family.  If you've read Missy's blog, missrodeogirl, you've gotten most of the important details.  Even with such an exciting piece of news as this I never know what to type on Xanga.  Missy says I should mention how thankful I am that I am not the one puking my brains out (there are actually lots of times when I wish I could do that part for her).  Anyways, I just want to say how excited I am to be a dad.  Though the method of delivery is a lot different that what we were planning we know that God has us on exactly the best path for us right now.  So I just want to praise God for the miracles He works in our lives, even when we are totally clueless to what He is up to.

P.S. If you are wondering...Missy is the one who will teach our kids how to spit, among other things.

Wait

Well, we're on the active list.  Any day now...or maybe any week, or month, or year...we could get a phone call.    It's kind of crazy to not have any kind of time line for our initiation into parenthood...but we just have to trust that God has it all worked out perfectly, and wait.  So if you think of us and decide to pray it would be much appreciated.

Renovating my house deteriorates my life.

We might have bit off more than we should have.  Missy and I are working on replacing the floors in most of our house.  We did the kitchen with ceramic tile, and now we are in the process of laying hardwood in our dining room, living room, hallway, and master bedroom, which were all previously lovely dusty wornout grey carpet.  It really did make more sense to do it all at once....but my mind is turning to mush.  I'm tired.  Maybe we should start a home business making plastic jewelry. We'll survive.  I think I need a picnic.
